Julia Dubenko
Glass artist
Born in 1981 in a small town in the south-east of Kazakhstan.
In 2012, she moved to Moscow. In the same year, Julia got acquainted with the lampwork technique – working with glass in an open flame of a torch. She studied this technique in private lessons and master classes.
Getting to know glass was a turning point in choosing a future career and profession.
In 2014, Julia studied in Italy with craftsmen on the island of Murano and chose glass blowing as her main direction. Today she creates jewelry, interior items and art objects in an abstract style - sculptures, vases, panels.
It was the complexity of working with glass that attracted the attention of the master. Learning how to work with this fragile, unyielding material, exploring the possibilities of glass has become a kind of challenge, self-discovery and self-improvement.
The central theme of Julia's work is the ability of glass to take on different shapes, textures, and capture and reflect light.
Her glass products, made in different colors, are distinguished by a combination of airiness and soft geometry. Each piece is carefully handmade and is a unique object.
The artist is not limited to just blowing. She also uses other glass working techniques and replaces traditional materials with her own glass forms. This allows her to experiment and get original results.
Recently, she has been paying special attention to environmental issues and using recycled glass in her projects. Thus, the vase made of recycled bottle glass "New Source" became the winner in the "Author's items" category in the "Circular Design" nomination of the IV Biennial competition "Invented and Made in Russia" in 2024.
